Junior Ratings

All cadets start as New Enterants and progress through to Able cadet class 3 in the junior ratings


New enterant (NE) 6 weeks

Ordinary cadet (OC) 20 weeks

Ordinary cadet class 1 (OC*) 20 weeks

Able cadet class 2 (AB**) 40 weeks

Able cadet class 3 (AB***) 40 weeks


Senior Ratings

Once a cadet has completed the AB*** course he/she is eligable to go on the leading Cadets promotion course and become a senior rating

Leading Cadet (L/C) 6 months min

petty officer promotion course

Petty Officer (PO) 6 months min

Chief Petty officer (CPO) 1 year min

Master Cadet Promotion Course

Master cadet (MC)

Commissioned Officers

After Becoming a Master Cadet and have held the rank for a while you can be commissioned. At this point you are no longer a cadet and your role shifts to helping run the unit

Ensign (Ens)

Sub Lieutenant (Sub Lt)

Lieutenant ( Lt)

Lieutenant Commander (Lt.Cmdr)

Lt.Cmdr is the highest rank attainable in NZSCC
